Condition
This table is of large practical proportions and is nice quality. This piece has been re-conditioned and restored and during this process the underside batons and related structures which support the leaves and tops have been replaced and re-arranged to provide additional support. This new timber has been sensitively stained to match and looks the part. These replaced elements include the frieze around the top. It is possible the top, which has age, may be associated however this does not detract from the piece. There is evidence of previous fixings to the underside. The tri-form supports are solid and look good, although there are losses to veneers, most probably caused by peoples feet. There are also patches to veneers from previous losses and chips. Overall the polished surface is good and whilst consistent would benefit from being re-polished as there are scratches and marks from age and use particularly to the top. Feet partially replaced. There are typical old marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use.
