Description

  • Edgar Brandt
  • Firescreen
  • impressed E. BRANDT
  • patinated wrought iron

Provenance

Christie’s New York, June 11, 1994, lot 329
Acquired from the above by the present owner

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The patinated metal surfaces with some surface scratches, minor abrasions and surface dirt consistent with age and gentle use. The patina presents with some areas of light wear, rubbing and a few areas of oxidation to the frame and to the stems of the leaves, visible in the catalogue illustration. A few leaves tips with minute abrasions, consistent with age and gentle use. A wonderful work by Brandt, where the delicate naturalist central decoration contrasts beautifully with the intricate geometrical frame. ---
