In 2008, Patek Philippe unveiled its first American salon at the Tiffany & Co. flagship boutique on 5th Avenue in New York. The two celebrated firms have enjoyed a long relationship beginning in the mid-19th century when both companies were in their first decade of existence.
To mark the first five years of the New York boutique, the two companies collaborated to create 100 examples of a special Ref. 5396, of which the present example is one. Featuring an attractive black dial and the signature of both Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co., it was only available to clients who were hand-selected; not to the general public.
