Catalogue Note
An unusual record released in an unusual format.
Released in the US in November 1967 as an elevel track LP, the American version Magical Mystery Tour included all 6 songs from the original film, such as "I am the Walrus," as well as the non-album singles released in that year, including "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "All You Need Is Love." The American LP was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1968 and was #1 on the Billboard chart for eight weeks. As an American import, the LP peaked at number 31 on the UK charts in January 1968, where the album was released as a double EP.
The record has gone on to become six times platinum certified by the Recording Industry Association of America.
