The painting is in lovely condition overall. The canvas has an old glue relining which appears to have period addition to the upper, left and right edges. The paint surface is well preserved under a clear varnish. Inspection under UV reveals two small recently filled losses in the muff and a minor repainted loss in the background upper left. There is older strengthening to the muff and to areas of the background. There is possible evidence of old very minor retouching to chin and cheeks though this is only very faintly visible under UV. The painting is in good condition and requires no further work, it is ready to hang in its present state. Offered in an elaborately carved gilt wood frame.
