Description

  • porcelain
of compressed globular form, set with a short upright spout opposite a loop handle, delicately painted on each side with an oval panel, one enclosing an idyllic landscape, the other a flowering spray, all reserved on rich yellow ground decorated with scrolls of fanciful blooms surrounded by feathery leaves interspersed with flower heads and pearls, the cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a coral-red finial, the interior and the base glazed turquoise, the latter inscribed apocryphally in iron-red with a six-character Qianlong mark reserved in a white panel

Condition

The teapot is generally in good good condition. Cover: There is a yellow enamel flake to the dome of the cover and a discoloured bodyline, possibly a firing crack to the interior moutrim near the cover. There is rubbing to the gilding around the rim. Teapot: There are minute burst air bubbles to the outer mouthrim with associate enamel flakes near the spout. There is a minute burst air bubble to the bottom of the handle with associate glaze lines. The actual colours are lighter and brighter than showing on the illustration in the catalogue.
