Condition

The colors are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration. This work is executed on its original canvas and is not relined. Tiny traces of wear in the lower left quadrant and in the upper left corner and a thin paint loss in the middle of the left rim are only visible under very close inspection. A minor restoration located near the lower edge at 24 cm from the left is only visible under UV light. This work is in very good inspection.

J’ai reçu la commande de dire tout. On peut dire tout en matière de couleurs comme en matière de sons ou de paroles. Simplement en mélangeant les couleurs et en les séparant en temps utile, en les mettant en opposition l’une avec l’autre, en les faisant se combattre et en proclamant en même temps le « cessez-le-feu » […] en les posant d’une manière tendre ou féroce sur la toile, sans savoir quel rôle elles joueront dans le drame.
