Condition

Overall in very good original condition. The ivory elements of the sculpture appear undisturbed and in very good condition throughout. Both the face and hands present with a few very minor tight age cracks and the surfaces throughout with slight discoloration, both of which are due to the natural aging process of the material. The face of the figure is executed in intricate and naturalistic detail. Element s of the design including the hair, eyes and lips retain a portion of the original patination. The patinated metal costume retains a portion of the red original costume patination highlighted with gilt detailing. The costume presents with surface dirt throughout and rubbing to the patina along the top surfaces of the arms, the top of her bent leg and portions of the collar and cuff elements of her costume. The headdress shows rubbing throughout. The costume is rendered in a textural pattern complemented by the figure's lyrical pose. There is evidence of residue around the foot, suggesting that the foot was possibly stabilized with glue in the past. The onyx and marble base with a few minor edge chips, the largest measuring ΒΌ inch in length and is visible in the catalogue illustration. This sculpture is a rare opportunity to acquire this model in original condition and showing the original patina.
