Catalogue Note

An impressive wall-map of Europe, flanked by eighteen finely-executed vignette town plans or panoramas of principal cities, including Rome, London, Madrid, Venice, Amsterdam and Moscow.

Wall-maps mounted for display were particularly vulnerable to all manner of damage across the centuries; despite obvious faults, this is actually a reasonable example of the genre, and a rare survival of an eighteenth-century wall-map from the golden age of Dutch cartography, this example evidently made to order for sale in the Spanish market.
