Original canvas, which is loose on the stretcher with faint stretcher marks along the edges. There are five patches to the reverse. The paint surface is dirty with a layer of slightly yellowed varnish. There is wear to the canvas at the corners which has resulted in paint loss and there is also some abrasion to the edges of the work. There are patches of craquelure in places, notably in the lower right hand quadrant and the area above the centre of the lower edge. There are some small flecks of paint loss in places and some of the craquelure is slightly raised and would benefit from consolidation. UV light reveals some areas of darker pigment in places and some area of retouching to the upper edge, top right and lower right corners and lower edge with some sweeping retouching. UNFRAMED
