Description
- platinum, emerald, diamond
Centered by a modified emerald-cut emerald weighing 22.48 carats, topped by a round diamond weighing approximately 3.70 carats, framed by five marquise-shaped diamonds weighing approximately 7.15 carats, suspending four undulating fringes set with two marquise-shaped diamonds weighing approximately 5.95 carats and nine pear-shaped diamonds weighing approximately 7.40 carats, accented throughout with old European, single-cut, pear-shaped and baguette diamonds weighing approximately 8.00 carats; circa 1920.
Condition
In very good condition, particularly given the brooch's age. The emerald is a lively, richly saturated medium green, and very lightly included. There is some significant surface scratching to the front of the stone, with some small chips and further scratching on the reverse. The large old European-cut diamond is approximately E-F color, VS clarity due to some chipping around the girdle. The large marquise-cut diamonds are approximately E-F color, SI clarity. The remaining diamonds are approximately E-G color, VS-SI clarity with several VVS examples. The brooch is very well made, and the individual components move freely when worn. Accompanied by AGL report no. CS 53847 stating that the emerald is of Classic Colombian origin, clarity enhancement: none.
