Manual winding movement running while cataloguing, however it is recommended to get service in the near future for accurate time keeping. Enamel dial looks nice, one minor hairline on the top of 7 o'clock, one minor enamel loss by the center of the subsidiary second hand. Case and buckle with scuffs from normal wear, it is our opinion that the case has been gently repolished but still remain good definition. Overall well preserved for its age. **The strap of this wristwatch is made from an endangered species, please

Catalogue Note
With a Vacheron Constantin Certificate of Authenticity.
The original ¿American¿ was introduced by Vacheron Constantin in 1919 with an unusual dial shifted 45° from its normal orientation. It carried an R.A 11 lignes Nouveau Amerique movement which originally designed for a pendant watch as the idea of wristwatch was at its infancy back then. In 1921, the dial was modified, making it more suitable for right-handed wearer, and named ¿American 1921¿.According to our reserch only 12 examples of this model, the original 1919 American, were made.
