Condition
This magnificent cabinet is generally in very good order. The piece is stable and solid. The surface is a lovely rich colour but does show signs of sympathetic restoration and re-touching to the finish. There has been lifting to the japanned surface and vertical age splits to each door, these has been consolidated and stablised. There is some damage to the lower left side return and the under gesso is showing where this crack appears (approx 45cm. long). The brass mounts are super quality but there is tear to the pierced pendant of the right side lock plate. The brass handles to the interior are sympathetic replacements as are the handles of the drawers possibly of the lower section. The left side of the lower section with a chip. The bun feet are later. A superb example which would augument a collection and be a wonderful decorative element to any room.
