première édition, 3 feuillets et 80 pages, grand in-8 (17.8 x 25.8 cm), musique gravée, épître au lecteur, avec une page de titre illustrée supplémentaire, coloriée à l'époque et contenant un portrait du compositeur portant la mention "Johann Kuhnauens neue Clavier-Ubung", tampon de la "Musik Bildungs Anstalt Jos. Proksch" au premier et second feuillet, le verso du dernier feuillet contient 16 mesures d'une main non identifiée probablemment du XVIIIe siècle, d'une fugue en Do par J. H. Buttstett, cartonnage postérieur, dos muet, pages 37/38 annotées par une main non identifiée, probablement du XVIIIe siècle, d'une imitation de la musique gravée de cette édition, quelques petites tâches, mors fendus.

Catalogue Note
Exemplaire jamais paru en vente publique durant ces quarante dernières années. Très beau recueil finement gravé des pièces pour clavier de Johann Kuhnau, qui précéda Bach au poste de chef de choeur à la Thomasschule de Leipzig. The C-major fugue by Johann Heinrich Buttstett (1666-1727), the first 16 bars of which are written in an unidentifed hand on the last page of the volume, is known from a manuscript copy prepared by Johann Gottfried Walther (D-B, Mus. ms. autogr. Buttstett 1).
