Catalogue Note

The rarity of fine-quality early Ottoman metalwork is familiar to scholars and collectors in the field. This candlestick belongs to a small group dating to the late-fifteenth/early-sixteenth century. The bold form and confident execution are consistent with metalwork ascribed to the reign of Bayezid II (r. 1481-1512).
