Condition
Overall the condition of the gold is good. There is dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age, including a few small nicks and scratches. Consistent with the softness of the metal, there is overall evidence of rubbing.

Catalogue Note
The panels on the present ring would have been rotated to display a specific saint according to the wearerʼs wishes. Comparable rings include one in the British Museum (Franks bequest no. AF.1009), and another in the Victoria and Albert Museum formerly in the Guilhou and Joan Evans collections (inv. no. M.192-1975). Another example in the British museum contains five scenes on the hoop with surviving black enamel (inv. no. 2004,0202.1).
