Condition

Overall the condition of the box is good. There is overall wear to the gilding and silvering consistent with age and handling and due to the nature of the technique, most notably to the top of the lid. There is some minor dirt and wear including some rubbing to the hinges. There are some minor irregularities to the surface due to forging flaws. Two square pegs are visible on the lid where the clasps of the lock on the inside were mounted. One of the faux hinges on the front of the box is loose. The key is possibly later. There is one twopence coin inside.
