Condition
There is dirt and wear to the surfaces consistent with age and handling. There is rubbing to the bone panels. The bone panels and the lid may have been reattached. The wood base may be replaced. There are losses to the certosina, including the left panel on the top of the lid. There are losses to the horn, including to the back of the lid and to the back of the horn band on the main body of the casket. There is wear to the horn band, including a number of lacunae. There are a number of metal pins in the bone panels, connecting them to the wood core. In the left corner relief at the front a pin has been lost and there is a small hole. There are a number of other small pins and plugs in the horn, wood and bone, including to the bone panel on the top of the lid. The joints between the panels are visible, but stable and in some places the wood core is visible. Much of the interior lining of the box is lost. The key is lost.
