Description
- Lucas, the elder Cranach
- Virgin and Child with the infant Saint John the Baptist
- oil on panel
Condition
The support consists of a single uncradled pine panel with a very minor vertical bow. On the figures the paint surface has survived quite well but there are several restored losses to the partially repainted background. The opaque varnish renders inspection under UV light rather difficult but to the naked eye several small, old retouchings to the flesh tones are visible.
