Condition

This work is in very good original condition. The motor is working. There are some tiny pinhead sized dots of foxing in the white painted elements. There are a few handling marks and some surface dirt, some very small scuffs and a few dots of white paint on the black background.

signed, dated, numbered 3 and dedicated on the back; wood board, black painting, five rectangular metal elements, white painting; backside: wood pulleys, rubber belts, metal fixtures, electric motor. Executed on September 14th 1960.

Le Musée Haus Lange à Krefeld en Allemagne a accueilli l'exposition Konstruiert von Jean Tinguely aux mois de septembre et octobre 1960. Le musée avait demandé à l'artiste de réaliser un relief mécanique qui pourrait être construit par les acquéreurs du supplément du catalogue de l'exposition. Ce supplément comprenait un plan et un certificat signé et numéroté par Jean Tinguely. 50 suppléments ont été édités, 30 vendus et 20 conservés par le musée. Sur les 30 suppléments vendus, 16 reliefs ont été construits sous la supervision de Jean Tinguely, par Alfred Otto Müller à Cologne.
