Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. Particular comments on individual boxes as follows - Brillo: On the top edge there is a 1 in. by 1 in. patch of adhesive residue from a previous label in one corner. Overall there are traces of faint handling marks at the edges of all sides and along the top edges. On one bottom corner there is a ½ in. splinter loss extending into a 2 ¾ in. crack and some minor chip losses on the neighboring face. There is slight wear to the tips of the other corners. There is very minor faint soiling on some of the faces. In the ``B'' and ``L'' of one of the 20 in. sides, there are slight scuffs. The bottom surface is unpainted and covered with white felt. Under UV light there are no apparent restorations. Heinz: Overall there is evidence of very fine horizontal linear cracks that are a result of the wood drying over time. There is no sign of insecurity attendant to this. The bottom side shows signs of scuff and wear, as is to be expected. Under UV light, there are no apparent restorations. Campbell's: The box is slightly soiled overall. The underside has evidence of minor scuffs and wear as is to be expected. Under UV light there is evidence of retouching of scattered thin linear scratches located as follows: --on one 9 in. wide end, scattered through the red center and along the lower left edge. --on the other 9 in. wide end, scattered inpainting in the upper right quadrant and a 3 in. linear retouch along the upper right edge. --on a 19 in. wide side, there is a 2 ½ in. horizontal linear retouch beneath "Campbell's" and some scattered areas near the right edge. --on the other 19 in. side, there are a few random scattered areas of retouching and a 2 in. horizontal linear retouch through the "s" in ``Campbell's''. Del Monte: There is evidence of minor wear on the underside as is to be expected. There is evidence of very faint handling to the extreme edges. Under UV light there are no apparent restorations.
