Catalogue Note

"There is something truly fascinating about the sculpture of Manolo Valdes. Something fascinating that begins with the material itself, with the trees which were cut down to make the still green wood display the secrets of its warping, as he hmself admits, and which he then transforms into those splendid women."
(Simón Alberto Consalvi, Manolo Valdes, Metaphor, Metamorphosis, Caracas 1997, n.p.)
