Condition
"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The oak panel is in good condition. The surface is raised but unstable, particularly along horizontal craquelure where consolidation and restoration of previous paint loss has occurred. This restoration is crude and discoloured and concentrated for the most part in the foreground. The monogram is unaffected apart from the tip of the D . The varnish is discoloured and would give improved overall tonality if it were removed."
