Catalogue Note
This interesting kitchen still life was executed by a Northern follower of Joachim Beuckelaer (c.1530-1573/4) and Pieter Aertsen (1507/8-1575) and probably painted in Dordrecht, Delft or Utrecht around 1610-20. The style and execution of the figure of the maid bears resemblances with pictures by Pieter Cornelisz. Van Rijck (1567/8-1535/40), Jeremias van Winghe (1578-1645), Werner van den Valckert (c.1585-after 1635), and Jacob Gerritsz. Cuyp (1594-1652). The kitchen still life itself is stylistically more reminiscent of works by Floris Gerritsz. van Schooten (1580/8-1656) and Christiaen van Couwenbergh (1604-1667).
