Catalogue Note

“While the pre-1994 sculptures tended to reconstruct a limited reality, the image that Kapoor introduces in 1995, is instead a spherical configuration that combines a maximum concentration and specularity of art to the point of erasing all boundaries. To look inside is, in fact, to trigger the disappearance and disintegration of the known world of objects – to negate the fixity of appearance which are afflicted by matter, and reveal an image that devours. Here we are in the realm of the unlimited, the infinite, a kind of vortex that engulfs and annuls things, a reflection that breaks and overturns the discontinuity of being, enabling it to attain an absolute purity and perfection.” (Germano Celant, Anish Kapoor, Milan 1998, p. 38)
