Condition
Colours:
The coloursare fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is slightly deeper and richer in the original. The paper tone is creamier, the yellow in the upper right quadrant tends more towards golden yellow and the blue in the top left quadrant more to bright royal blue in the original.
Condition:
The work is in very good condition. Executed on thick wove paper, the work is securely hinged to the mount at intervals to all four edges and at the four corners. There is some slight undulation to the sheet and a few very light horizontal creases to the lower half of the composition. There are artist's pinholes to the four corners and top right exreme corner tip is bending inwards. There is some very pale time staining to the extreme edges and a horizontal line of minor discolouration extends outwards from the square shape of blue paint to the upper left quadrant. Upon close inspection there are a few minute nicks to the upper and lower extreme edges. There are some very light and unobtrusive short creases to places along the lower section of the right extreme edge, possibly original to the work's execution.
